About

On a visit to Williamsburg, Virginia, in early 1978, Suzanne Johnson and her daughter, Kelley, found a unique collection of antique reproduction furniture called "Habersham Plantation."

Excited by this collection, information was obtained about opening a dealership in Delaware. At the time, Martin Johnson was retiring from the Delaware State Police. From the onset of their marriage, Suzanne and Martin had shared an affinity for the "old." Living in a house built in the late 1700's and furnished in large part with original and antique reproduction furniture, the Johnsons had found how increasingly difficult it was to find good original furniture pieces. What could be more natural than marketing something you love and enjoy. Suzanne and Kelley's enthusiasm caught hold when Martin (who also made a visit to Williamsburg) viewed the collection, and we decided this was for us. Habersham Peddler Interiors opened June 19, 1978, featuring a single Habersham Plantation collection of museum researched colonial reproductions. As time has evolved so has Habersham Peddler Interiors increasing their lines to include several manufacturers of case goods and upholstery. Decorative accessories are now a major part of Habersham Peddler Interiors. Whether it's period lighting, area rugs, folk art, salt glaze pottery, decorative framed prints or brass, it can be found here. Suzanne and Martin Johnson, as proprietors, are always available to service a customer's needs. Kelley Layton, as manager and decorating consultant, lends her talent for color and design in aiding customers in fabric selection to combining the unique, traditional, and decorative accessory to complement our wide range of furniture choices.
